Turned off sound card, computer still beeps

I had a call from one of our users that her computer "beeps" at her.
She said that it just started a couple of weeks ago. There are
computers in this office, and this is only happening on two of them.
So I went to the office to check out this "beeping". It happen
whenever she gets an error message/warning message pop up and i
doesn't matter what program she is using. I have totally disabled th
sound card in device manager, turned off all sounds within Contro
Panel, and even selected the option for no speakers. But the bee
still happens. This pc has been in use since 2002 and this is th
first time it has started "beeping". Again, the beeps only happen wit
an error/warning message.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to turn off th
beeps?

Thanks in advance,

I suppose you could Disable the system speaker in Device manager.

That won't do it. You need to either disable it in the BIOS
or open the case and unplug it.

Are there any ramifications from disabling the system sounds? And ho
would this all of a sudden get turned on? These PCs have been in us
for 4 years and two weeks ago they started beeping.

You would be correct IF you wanted to keep the BIOS from alarming, but
in this case it is the Operating system using the speaker.

If you don't want the operating system making any sounds, the operating
system won't make any sounds. What did you do two weeks ago?
