PC-speaker is physically unplugged - but I still get the beep

Hello!

I tried to get rid of the "notification" beep (which I get in Outlook
when I receive a new message, in Excel, Word and so on). What I tried:

1) Turned off all sounds in the device manager and
2) Installed Tweak UI, checked the "disabling the beep" or what it's
called.
3) In BIOS I disabled audio sound
4) I physically unplugged the pc-speaker from the motherboard

Step 1, 2 og 3 didn't help at all. After step 4 the beep is more quiet
but it's still there!!! I don't have any speakers attached to the
computer (XP, sp2).

Can anyone help me....

It is not a good idea to remove the pc-speaker! This speaker is very
important to the boot Power On Self Test (POST.) The motherboard uses
the speaker to beep a code if it detects a "failed" component.
Depending on the beeps (long and short sequeneces) this indicates
which component failed (as per the BIOS diagnostic codes.)

Try a piece of duct tape over the hole. Maybe two or three pieces. If you
need it 100% quiet permanently, carefully put a couple drops of super-glue
in the hole.

Now it's done and it became silent before I went mad ;) Thanks Paul
and JohnO!
