Turn Off Problems

Recently I've begun to have trouble turning off the computer. When I click
the Turn Off button I'll get a series of repetitive groups of blinks on the
HD LED but no turn off. A second attempt sometimes will work. Otherwise I
have to use the power switch. And a few times the computer restarted
instead of turning off.

Would appreciate any ideas on how I can find the cause of the problem and
how it might be corrected.
