turn off FAX

What can I do so that when my phone rings it doesn't also ring thru the FAX
on my computer? I don't have the FAX program or console up so I wont think
it should even be active. I looked in task manager and found "fxssvc.exe"
was running and cannot use End Process to stop it.
What are some options that I have that will disable the FAX from ringing or
even being active until I run the MS FAX program?

Goto Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Scroll down
to Fax > Right click on Fax select Properties > In general tab set startup
method to manual. Also Select Stop the Service. After you do this you will
have to manually start the program with your fax console.
