If I "Restart" my XP SP2 box any number of times and check in Device Manager (showing
Hidden Devices) all is well.
If I do "Turn off" and then startup again then many devices are doubled. These twins are
greyed-out and their properties say "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to
the computer. (Code 45)"
I uninstall both twins (grey and normal) and Restart and the normals return (finding new
hardware and reinstalling messages) and the grey twins are gone.
Restart- still gone.
Turnoff and startup- the twins are back. Repeating the turn off does not create quads etc.
Anyone else seen this behaviour? Anyone know what causes it? I have done a lot of hardware
changes lately and have just added Bluetooth using SP2's own drivers on a Belkin dongle.
Twins ONLY occur in:
Bluetooth Device
Bluetooth Enumerator
The 2 CD_ROM drives
Primary and Secondary IDE Channels
Standard Modem over Bluetooth link
Bluetooth Device PAN network adapter
Bluetooth Device RFCOMM network adapter
USB Universal Host Controllers x5
USB Root Hubs
- out of the full Device Manager list
Thanks for reading all this - I could not work out how to say it briefly!
