It seems that all my appointments are being automatically marked as private
putting that little "key" symbol in the calendar view of the appointment.

Is there an option to not have them so marked?

Thanks.

thanks - I tried that and it still didn't work - BUT - I discovered the fix
and it didn't have anything to do with Outlook. I'm using intellisync to
sync my laptop and desktop (web based "escrow" system using Yahoo as the
middle man). In the field mapping setup for intellisync I had something
entitled "sharing" aligned with "private" on both computers.

When I de-selected that "sharing" connection - my appts are no longer
automatically marked private!!

What led me to this was that a newly entered appointment on either computer
appeared OK (not a private appt.) but when I sync'ed to the other, it
transformed into a private message - of course when I sync'ed back to the
original computer, not the appt on it was a private one - had to be that
syncing program some how was converting the appt. to a private one!!!??!!

Anyway, I think I'm OK for now.

Thanks for the help.
