tunnel remote desktop ...

B

Bill Atrit

I've been tunneling remote desktop client thru my SSH
connection (via Putty and port forwarding) from my Win2K
laptop for a long time w/zero issues. Just got a new
laptop and upgraded the OS to XP Pro.

With the same setup as on my Win2K machine, I'm trying to
port-forward my local "remote desktop" connection thru
ssh. (This is done by trying to connect my RD client
to "localhost" - my ssh client is supposed to intercept
the RD call to port 3389 and send it thru my ssh tunnel.
My ssh server on the other end re-forwards the packet out
on my local network and all is good.)

Unfortunately, XP sees this activity as me trying to
obtain a second console on my machine. (Message I get is
something to the effect of "you are already connected to
the console of this machine. A new console cannot be
established." Wondering if anyone knows how to get around
this?

Thanks in advance!
Bill.
