TS is slow, but not always

Hi there,
We have this difficult problem:
A Terminal Server in Application mode with Windows 2000 SP4, Office2000SP3.
Hardware TS: 2 Intel Xeon 2,8 GHz, 2,6 GB RAM
CLients: Windows2000, Windows XP
2 locations, HQ where several TS stands and where I work, location A where
client works.
Sometimes the client calls that Word responds so slow when typing, also does
Outlook. When he connects to another TS in the HQ, the speed is good. So, you
would say, it is not the connection, but the TS must be slow.
But, when I, at the HQ, connect at the same moment to the "slow" TS, I can
work at full speed. So it is not a slow server. When I monitor the server
with Taskmanager or PErformance monitoring, the processor is not working very
hard, and does not use lots of memory.
Clients do not have performance problems all the time, but can have the
problem also when only 2 users are conneted.
I don't know what to do, does anyone has suggestions where to look?
Thanks in advance, Mieke

Hi Mieke,

I have recently had issues with remote connections to a 2003 TS sort of like
what you are describing. I would go to location A (if possible) and take a
good look at their computers for spyware, viruses, etc. The customer of mine
whoe expienced this problem had three computers at a remote location that
where loaded with Spyware...and a few viruses.

You might also ask the ISP for the remote location to monitor the connection
to see if anything comes up. This will probably not product much usable
information.....as most ISPs don't like accepting blame for anything.

I hope this helps...

Ron
