trying to restore factory settings

Kevin

I have two systems with xp 2002 on them. I want to clean them out completely
using the restore factory settings option. But when the dell splash screen
comes up, I press and release CTRL and F11 at the same time, but nothing
happens. Any helpfull advice on how else I can get this accomplished? Any
thoughts or advice would be appreciated.. Thank you

Contact Dell support for help with their recovery process, this is not a
Windows issue.

Possibilities:

1. Not all Dells come with a hidden recovery partition. So pressing Ctrl
+ F11 won't give you that option.

Does your documentation specifically state to press Ctrl + F11? What is
the model and model number of this Dell?

2. You're doing it wrong (perhaps too late).

3. There is something wrong with your keyboard. Are you able to access
the BIOS? If not, try another keyboard (PS/2).

Why do you want to "clean them out completely"? Did you obtain these
second-hand? Are there multiple infections that seem impossible to
completely remove? Otherwise, there are easier and quicker ways to
optimimtze performance. Just tell us the symptoms, and we can guide you.
