I had created some files with Word 2000 and saved them onto a CD. I have
since upgraded my system to Word 2003 and now when I try to open the docs, it
says read-only and there is no text on the pages. is there a way for me to
convert these files to be shown with Word 2003?
Thanks a million!

There's no problem moving files between W2000 and W2003 -- they use the same
file format. More likely, the problem arose when you saved the files to CD:
saving directly to a removable medium very often corrupts the files. If this
is the problem, then, sadly, your files are lost.

They are read-only because they were saved to a CD. Don't try to open them
directly from the CD! Copy them to your HD, select all, right-click, choose
Properties, and remove the read-only flag. Then use Word to open them from
the HD.
