opening word 200-2003 docs in word 2007

trying to open previous word docs (word 2000-2003) on new system w/word 2007,
no luck, word 2007 opens but nothing loads

Are you saying you cannot open files from the Office Button > Open? What
happens when you try?

I can open older documents if I go through the Offie Button>Open, It is when
I try to open an older document by double clicking on it is when it will not
load, word 2007 opens but it is just a blank screen, no mention of
Compatability Mode just a blank word screen. Is there any fix so I can Dbl
click and open? Thank you

First see how to re-register Word when problems crop up opening files
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ReRegisterWord.htm and if that doesn't
fix it select a document in Windows Explorer, right click and choose Open
with...

From the ensuing dialog select Word (winword.exe) and check the box to
always open with this application.
