Trying to open an ACCESS 97 Application from Office XP

Good Morning.

We have a mult. user ACCESS 97 application that is used by
30 + users. We have installed new computers with Office
XP. When we try to open the application we receive the
following message " The database that you are tyring to
open or convert is currently in use, or you do not have
permission to open it exclusively". The User does have
all the rights as the Office 97 users.

Thanks for your help.
 
You should check that everyone has full rights to the DIRECTORY where the
database sits. This is the most common cause of this error message.
 
Are they trying to convert the application to XP? They do need exclusive
access to the database in order to do that.
