I have been trying everything to install or get back ie 6
on my WIN XP PRO. Nothing has worked at all. Ive used
the ie setup from off microsoft website to be told that
it isnt compatible w win xp so browser wont be
installed. I tried to from ie.inf file w no luck. Im
frustrated now because w/o it then i cant use my AIM
because it needs ie5.5 or higher. Can someone please
help. Also i went in registry and changed value to 0.
I've been using my sbc dsl yahoo browser.

I am having a similiar problem with XP Home Ed.

Adaware was installed and IE 6 functionality stopped with an indication that any web site going to was unavailable. Uninstalled Adaware and problem still present so uninstalled IE and downloaded/installed IE6 SP1 multilple times which all indications are install successful. The "C:\Program Files\internet explorer" directory/subdirectory is created and populated but there is no iexplorer.exe there or anywhere else. Try again and install says later version already present so set registry "IsInstalled" = 0 and reinstall will the same failed results everytime.

I have same problem.
I used Disk Cleanup, Advanced, to delete some unused
Windows XP Home features, and must have hit the wrong
button. Now I have no browser. Howe do I get Internet
Explorer 6 back??

HI,
Try LSP-Fix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
Some are recommending a similar fix at
http://members.shaw.ca/techcd/WinsockXPFix.exe for WinXP
