Hi,

I am trying to figure out how to format the layout of a picture so that it
automatically has its own page, i.e. each figure and caption appears on its
own page, without any body text.

I can't figure out how to do this, and cant find anything in help or one the
web... can anyone help please?

Thanks!

Hi,

Try inserting page breaks before and after your images. To insert a page
break, simply press Ctrl+Enter at the end of the text before each image, and
then do the same at the beginning of the text after each image.

Add the formatting attribute of Page Break Before (found under Format,
Paragraph, Line and Page Breaks) to the style that comes first, ie The
Caption style if the caption is before the image, or the image style if the
image comes first.
This will ensure that all images (and their captions) are on their own page.
Any text following can be pushed to the next page, either automatically
because of the size of the image, or again appying this format attribute or,
as previously mentioned by Pesach, add a manual Page Break.
I have the creation of a Caption and Image space by the use of AutoText
Entry, all I type is "Figu" the enter and all is there for me, the I insert
the required image. All done and dusted.
For more on AutoText, see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customization/AutoText.htm.
Hope this helps

In order for these suggestions to work properly, however, the figures need to
be formatted as "In Line with Text." If they're floating in front of the text
or behind it, the page breaks won't work as described.

I also size my figures to fit within my margins, leaving sufficient space
for a caption. If my figures are no more than 6.5 inches wide and no more
than 7.5 inches high (we use a big header and 1 inch margins), they'll fit
one to a page.

I hope this helps.
