I am trying to do a complete restore on my computer but when the screen comes
up it tells me i dont have a user partition and that it cant continue. The
main reason i want to do this is i have a virus on my computer that isnt
allowing me to use explorer or others. i have norton, adaware, and another
anti-spyware but none of them find it. PLEASE help. my computer is a VPR
Matrix

i have these four commands stored in a white paper if the disk crashes on my
pc that might help, you will have to use the windows cd and go into
recovery console cmd prompt:

To enter a command into the Recovery Console, type the command
at the C:\WINDOWS> prompt. Press the ENTER key at the end of each
command to send it to the computer.

To replace ntldr, enter
copy drive :i386 \ntldr
In place of drive , use the drive letter for the CD drive.

To replace NTDETECT.COM, enter
copy drive :i386 \ntdetect.com
In place of drive , use the drive letter for the CD drive.

To replace the Master Boot Record, enter
fixmbr

To replace the boot sector, enter
fixboot
The Recovery Console will ask, Overwrite system?(Yes/No/All). Enter Y for yes
each time the question appears.

exit, reboot to cd setup and try the repair option via new installation
again.....

You must partition the hard drive. You can select a partition from the menu
making it any size you wish. Suggest 90/10%. You will be able to proceed then.

sounds like your OEM manufacturer defined a partition on your hard disk
when it left the factory, that is your Windows installation. If you
repartitioned your disk, and don't have that partition the OEM placed on
your drive, the "restore" (aka "recovery") cd is useless.

I think you're going to need a XP from the store, and then you'll have
two valid licenses to install XP. Joy.

Sorry,
