trying to copy a 5gb file to a hdd with 99gb free

I'm trying to copy a 5GB file to a hard drive with 99GB in free space
and get the following error when I try:

--------

Cannot copy filename.ext: There is not enough free disk space.

Delete one or more files to free disk space, and then try again.

To free space on this drive by deleting old or unnecessary files,
click Disk Cleanup.

--------

The hard drive uses FAT32 and when I click on Analyze, in Disk
Defragmenter, it says that I don't need to defragment it.

Any ideas?

FAT32 has a 4 gig limit. You'll need to format to NTFS.
