Hi,

Here are my specs:

OSes: Windows XP Pro SP2, Windows Vista RC1, Ubuntu Linux 6.06
Motherboard: ASUS P5ND2-SLI
Processor: Intel Pentium D 830 3.0GHz
Hard Drive: 250GB SATA
RAM: 2x 512MB DDR 667MHz
Video Card: ATI Radeon X1300 PRO
Optical Drive: Pioneer DVR-110D DVD-RW
USB: 4x USB 2.0
Sound Card: 7.1 Channel
Ethernet Adapter: Intel 10/100/100 Gigabit

I have 5 partitions. C:/, a 100GB partition (Windows XP), E:/, a 90GB
partition (Windows Vista), F:/ a 10GB partition (A documents
partition), A hidden 30GB linux partition, and a hidden 5GB linux-swap
partition. I am currently using Windows XP Pro. In the C:/, Windows XP
partition, I used to have 48.8GB free space, and now all of a sudden
have 53GB free space. There hasn't been a lot of files (i know) that I
have deleted. I know its not that serious, but what could cause this
to happen?

Thanks

P.S. Scans using the latest software show that my computer is
completely free of viruses and spyware

Perhaps a bunch of restore points expired at the 90 day point. Perhaps
you deleted a copy of a DVD you burned.

All of the following may affect/remove files - some are hidden files,
some may be quite large files or folders that contain many files:

System restore points expiry or settings change, temp files cleanup,
paging file/memory size change, disabling hibernation, temporary internet
files setting change or cleanup, XP's built-in cd writing (or perhaps
3rd-party CD/DVD writing programs) temporary files, antivirus quarantine
cleanup.

If your cluster size is large (do you use FAT instead of NTFS?), a large
number of very small files can take up much more allocated disk space
than the total of the file sizes.
