Trying to add a printer and the add printer wizard is not working

I am trying to add a printer and the add a printer wizard is not working.
When I click on add a printer I get an error message "Operation could not be
completed" I tried to restart the spooler from the command prompt but got a
system 1058 error message "The service cannot be started, either because it
is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. Any
ideas??

It's a 1068 error and indicates you have a Lexmark multifunction unit or one
manufactured by Lexmark and rebadged.
