Try again: Scheduled task but no password

Hall

On my XP computer, I'm the only user. So my ID has no password.

But when I set up a scheduled task, in the password prompt, I put nothing,
and that generated an error (0x80070005: Access is denied).

So is it possible to use scheduled tasks with null as the password? Or do I
have to go through the bother of setting myself a password, which would be
required each time I use the system!?

Try left column #67 at Kelly's site:

On my servers at work, I create a special administrator ID (with non-expiring
password) and I assign all the user tasks/services to that id.

It's actually very simple Hall. You do have to set up a password to make
Scheduled Tasks work. Then go to Start, Run and type "control
userpasswrds2" (without the exclamation marks), click on the account you
use, uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer" then click OK. A new window will pop up. Make sure the correct
account is listed, type your password twice and hit OK again. Now open
Scheduled Tasks, right-click on the task that you added and then hit 'Run'
to verify that it worked.

sorry misspelled 'userpasswords'
