Task scheduler permission error

Dennis_S

Just installed XP SP3. My user account is a member of the Administrators
group. I do not have a password to log on. This is a home computer and it's
a pain to type in a password for home use.

I am attempting to set up a schedule MS Backup job to backup my PST file to
an external USB drive. When I am prompted to enter a passord, whether I
leave the password fields blank or enter a passord, I get the error -

An error has occured while attempting to set task account information. The
specific error is - 0x80070005 Access is denied. You do not have permission
to perform the requested operation.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

When you type the words
Task scheduler permission error
into a Google search box then you get almost 500,000 hits. This is an FAQ
and the usual reason is that the account used is prevented by the local
computer policy to log on as a batch job.

You are not missing anything, that is how it is supposed to work,

Even if you use Administrator (with no password) it will still
complain.

The easiest solution suggests setting up a new user account just for
things like this that need passwords.

Give that new user a password and the credentials it needs to do want
you want and use it for your STs.

It works without a password:

1. if you are logged in at the scheduled time and
2. you have set "only execute when logged in" in the scheduled task
properties
