Backup Task Scheduler Error 0x80070005: Access is denied

I manually installed Backup on MS Windows XP Home as follows:
Double-click the Ntbackup.msi file in the following location on the Windows
XP Home Edition CD-ROM to start a wizard that installs Backup:
CD-ROM Drive:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP

On attempting to schedule an automatic weekly backup I get the following
Task Scheduler error screen:
“An error has occurred while attempting to set task account information. The
specific error is: 0x80070005: Access is denied. You do not have permission
to perform the requested operation.â€

Please can someone assist me.

Many thanks

Do you have sufficient rights to schedule that job? I mean are you an
administrator of your machine or just a limited user? Check this from Control
Panel->User Accounts.

Try a small test. On Run Command, type regedit and enter. If you get another
message denying you the access, then it's clear that your system is infected
and you will denied access at random places in your OS. You may have a look
at windows explorer as well. On the menu bar, if you don't see any folder
option but another menu item something called: "Advanced Task Scheduler" etc.
then it's confirmed that your system is infected. Scan system for any
spywares, malwares etc.

Thanks so much - you put me on the right path. I did your suggested tests -
computer was not infected. So I went to help and typed in Advanced Task
Scheduler - they said set security on the Task. The task properties did not
have a security tab - however I compared it to the existing task and added a
check next to "Run only if logged in" and that disabled the password and now
the backup is running perfectly. I am so grateful for this forum and your
participation. Without it I would not have known where to start. Much
appreciation.
