True Version of Windows XP

I'd like to know if there is a way to find out what is the true version of
your Windows XP. If a user upgrades his Windows XP Home to Pro can you find
out if the Windows XP was ever XP Home? How can you find out what was the
TRUE version before any upgrades?

I suspect that the computer I am looking at use to be HOME and was upgraded
to XP because of the computer workgroup name is MSHome and the only time I
have seen that name for the workgroup is on HOME computers and those
upgraded.

Thank You

There is no way AFAIK. Your assumption on the mshome workgroup is incorrect,
I believe that gets set by running the network setup wizard, not to mention
you can name your workgroup what ever you want. I can have a workgroup
called mshome with Vista, Windows 95, or 3.11 if I want, so a workgroup name
tells you nothing.
