I've got a Domain Name Server running Win2k server and another (old) Printer server running NT4. My 14 client machines are running Win98 se and with one user name and password login to both servers without trouble. Any person can use there name and password on any machine without trouble. I've now been asked to upgrade all clients to XP Pro and having setup 2 machines.

a) I can't seem to be able to use any username and password to login.

b) Once I've put in username and password on the first login box, when I click on a network drive I have to again put in a username and password.

I also used to be part of the Domain MEP as is set up on the win2k server but now I can only join a workgroup and it won't let me onto the domain..

Any help would be greatfully received.

Regards.

Oh boy you may need to create a group on the Windows 2000 server named "Pre Windows 2000 Compatible Access". To do so open any DOS prompt (except command.com) and type this command

net localgroup "Pre Windows 2000 Compatible Access" /add (exactly as shown).
Now place the Windows NT 4.0 computer into that group you've just created DO NOT PLACE ANY USERS IN THIS GROUP WHATSOEVER! This is for Windows NT 4.0 Computers only!
configure the Win2k Server accordingly so that the Windows NT 4.0 computer can access domain resources. If you need more help then I can give (RTFM) <------Read the freakin manual (readme.1st on the CD-ROM) or google for it under "Pre Windows 2000 Compatible Access".

Note: Backup Active Directory, the system state, and your entire hard drive before fiddling with anything!
