trouble with adress book after migrate to new computer

I migrated to a new computer with OL 2007/ vista from my old computer
OL2007/XP.
I transferred the data from outlook wit Easy transfer tool. This was a mess.
Something went wrong and I had to use a repair tool called scanpst.exe
I got my e-mail messages OK, but the adress book has problems.

KB 287563
("Contact information does not appear in the address book in Outlook") seems
to address this, but the final step (repeated below) doesn't work:

2. Click the Adress Books tab.
3. If your Outlook Address Book is listed, click Close, and then go to "Step
2: Mark your contact folder for use with your address book." [Outlook Address

Step 2: Mark your contact folder for use with your address book
1. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Properties for your
folder name.
2. On the Outlook Address Book tab, click to select the Show this folder as
an e-mail address book check box, type a descriptive name, and then click OK.

Here is the problem, with Contacts hightlighted, I go to
File>Folder>"Properties for "Contacts"," click on the Outlook Address Book
tab, and "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" is grayed out.

I read a number of responses here so the next step I took was trying to add
a new adress book. This didn't work Outlook stated there already exists and
no second can be used.
When I go to account settings/adress book and try to change the adress book
a pop-up comes up but there is no adressbook the field is blank.
The next thing I did was to create a new profile this went OK.
But how do I get my old data in the new profile, or is there some other way
to get my contacts in the adress book.

it creates is corrupt. You must create a new profile and migrate the data
properly, the instructions for which are posted here daily.

It sounds like you copied all of the messages and all of the contact
items but NOT any of the Calendar items; is that correct? If I were
you, unless you don't care about the Calendar, I'd go back into those
PST files and copy over those Calendar items before you dispose of the
old PST files.

Sorry if things seem unclear, English is not my native language, the outlook
I use is in Dutch so some items are perhaps translated inproperly.
What Ben wrote is what I did, I opened three .pst files in the new profile I
made.
1.The backup of my old computer
2. The archive pst from my old computer
3. the outlook.pst from my new computer
I then copied all the messages, adresses and now also the agenda to the
default personal files on the new profile.
Things seem to be in order. The agenda categories are messed up and I need
to add some accounts. I have still not be able to find a proper description
on how to migrate to a new computer without dataloss and without double
personal files.

It sounds like you copied all of the messages and all of the contact
items but NOT any of the Calendar items; is that correct? If I were
you, unless you don't care about the Calendar, I'd go back into those
PST files and copy over those Calendar items before you dispose of the
old PST files.

Next time you need to migrate, you will have an easier time if you simply
open and reuse your latest backup of your PST file rather than copying from
it. That's the only way to preserve links.

Perhaps you want to ask in microsoft.public.nl.office.outlook, then, where
Dutch is the language employed.

The english group seems to be more up-to-date then the dutch group, but as I
found out this is a very old and ongoing problem.
