Trouble upgrading from OE to Outlook 2002.

I just installed 2002, and it gave me the option to
upgrade from OE. So I did. All the folders were imported
properly, but I'm having four issues:

1) The dates are messed up: on old messages (say, from
1999), the received date was changed to the date of
installation (2/11/04).

2) Navigating from message to message takes extremely
long, but when I'm running OE simultaneously, it is nearly
instantaneous.

3) Since I've tried troubleshooting the issue by re-
installing Outlook 2002 and importing the mail again,
my .pst file has grown to over a gigabyte. How do I erase
it and start again?

4) I don't know how to import my contacts from OE to 2002.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Export from the OE side rather than importing from Outlook and the correct
dates should be preserved.

Try disabling the integration with Instant Messenger in Tools | Options |
Other and see if that speeds things up.

Create a new .PST file using File | New | Outlook Data File (give it a
unique name so you don't confuse it with your old .PST), then make it your
default -- the box to choose this setting is in Tools | E-mail Accounts |
View or change existing e-mail acccounts (click Next and then look right
under the list of mail accounts). Once you've done that, you can close the
old .PST file by right-clicking its root folder and clicking Close. Once
it's closed, you can delete the file from your hard drive if you wish.
4) I don't know how to import my contacts from OE to 2002.

Again, open OE and go to File | Export.
