How to get old mail from OE into Outlook 2002

HI,

I have changed PC's and now have Outllok 2002.

I have my mail from OE store folder on a different HDD on the same PC. The
folder contains all my mail folders and mail.

In OUtlook 2002 I click on file and import mail and it only gives me the
option of OE4, 5 NOT 6 but I click any how and then navigate to the store
folder where all my OE mail is. But I get an error saying that it cannot open
the mail folder.

How do get my OE mail into Outlook 2002?? I have got my addresses OK - I
exported and saved these as a CSV windows file and then imported into Outlook
2002.

Help??

When you say you have all your OE mail store, please check that it includes
the file called Folders.dbx. If it doesn't, that's the usual reason for an
import not recognising the folders as a message store...

HI Gordon, Yes there is a Folders.dbx file - 73 kb. I copied the entire
store folder onto my thumb drive and also had as said on another HDD on the
PC for security.

Best to configure OE with your message store first. Then from within OE you
can choose to export to Outlook.

73KB, are you sure? That is very small. That might only include 1-3 messages
if any at all.
Are you sure it isn't 73MB? Otherwise you might have backed up the wrong
file/message store.

Unfortunately that will not be possible the other drive has deleted windows
OS as new drive has Vista Home basic. I thought it would be straight forward
once I had OE store folder and files! I guess I could import them from
another PC using OE ??? and then ??? 'configure' the message store - not sure
howto achieve this though.

No, you can use Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail to configure your message
store from OE with. They are the successor of Outlook Express and are
compatible with the message store of OE.

Note that Outlook 2002 is not fully compatible with Windows Vista. If you
were working with OE before, using Windows Live Mail might be the better
choice for you.
More info about WLM can be found here;

Ok thanks - Howwever as I have tried to start Outlook 2002 now, I have
Windows Mail in Vista wanting to get messages from OUtlook. I cannot see how
to say OE and go to my store folder. The plot thickens!!
