Trouble starting WXP

Running Windows XP with SP2 and all the security patches, except the Security
patch 902400 this is what happens:

On boot up and after the POST the blue screen with an error message will
display for a brief moment then the computer will restart. After the restart
if the blue screen does not appear the OS will start loading but it will take
for ever to get to the logon screen. Then when logged on it will take forever
to load the desktop and the computer will act very slow and sluggish. If
allowed to finish loading the OS and then turned off and restarted the
computer might start normally and seemingly without any problems??? Then it
will run without any problems for a few day or weeks before the entire
process is repeated…

I have run all possible hardware diagnostics and all the hardware is in
top-condition, I have also been searching the Event logs for any clues but no
errors are logged in the system and application log(!?) and finally the
computer is clean from virus, ad- and spy-ware.

Any ideas what is causing the problem and how it might be fixed?

Right click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery
Settings, under System Failure uncheck Automatically restart. Next time
the error happens it should stay on the screen, write it down completely
and post it here. Someone may be able to help from there.
