trouble seeing open & minimized windows on the task bar

I have a problem that MS customer service can not seem to help me with.
Today, for some odd reason, I can not see any open or minimized windows on my
task bar. I have not changed any settings ANYWHERE...
I usually have the task bar open to 2 lines so I can see the Quick Launch
icons and any other minimized windows underneath the quick launch. I do not
have any other tool bars open. My task bar remains locked. I have it set so
that it is viewable over all open windows.
If anyone has any suggestions at all, PLEASE respond. Thanks!
