Trouble Running a DOS Program in XP SP2

I'm trying to run an old MS-DOS program (Financial Workshop by
Electronic Arts) in Win XP SP2 (Media Edition)on my new laptop, and I'm
getting the following error message:

"The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:c000 IP:fff4 OP:63 74 75 72 65 Choose 'Close' to terminate the
application"

This program ran fine on my desktop PC.

Can someone help me out in getting this to run?

Go to Start > run and enter command.com. You'll enter a dos emulator of xp.
now run your program by using this command prompt (opening it by command).

That is exactly how I'm trying to run it when I get the error message.....
