Trouble printing through VPN

I am having trouble printing through a VPN connection. I
am connecting via VPN from home (Win XP Pro) to a shared
printer (HP Laserjet 4200n) at work. When I first add
the printer to my home computer everything works fine and
I am able to print documents to the remote printer.
However, when I disconnect the VPN session and reconnect
later I can no longer access the remote printer. I
receive an "unable to connect" error message. I am able
to connect to all network resources except the printer.
If I delete the printer and reinstall it I can once again
access the remote printer. However, once I disconnect
and reconnect the VPN I lose access to the printer
again. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
