Trouble installing XP2

Hi there:

I have XP1 installed but am having trouble getting XP2 on.
I have a HP Pavilion 8905. XP Pro is installed as a clean install (not using
the partitioned files). No other HP services are installed/loaded.

I installed XP2 from the MS setup disk I got sent out but the trouble is
when it does the restart, I get an error msg. (STOP failure the numbers &
letters). I then have to do a recory disk roll-back.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I need to do beforehand?
All the Windows updates etc are all up to date along with drivers etc!

Can somebody please help me?!? It's getting so frustrating to get this
update done.
I looked in all the MS XP2 help/support pages but nothing really relates or
if it does, doesnt work.

I can give more info if required. Thanks foryour assistance.

hi Gordon:
its hard to replicate it right now as i lost what it said.
It was some thing like STOP: 11dddc2666g (like that)

XP2 supoort shows one similar but its not that & I dont have TV media
intalled.
I heard that it may be because of being HP. No BIOS upate driver avail & I
dont have Intel processor.

The numbers will be 8 character hex codes (starting 0x followed by 8
characters that are numbers or letters a-f), without the actual codes it's
going to near to impossible to determine the cause of the problem.

Hi,

Try booting to Safe mode and then run the setup from there or copy the
XPSP2.exe file to you hard drive and then run the installation.

Hello all:
Many thanks for your assistance. I will try re-installing XP2 in the weekend
(may try from safe mode).
If I cant see the error in the link from Gordons message, I will respond here.

Thanks again
