Trouble installing upgrade

While installing the upgrade version of XP pro from scratch i got a messege
saying driver.cab could not be copied so after trying endlessly 2 get it 2
copy i just skipped the file As i am typing it is installing and i was
wondering if not having the driver.cab file could give me trouble in the
future or if XP will not even work at all
