Trouble installin HP1320 on XP

I have been using an HP1320 LaserJet on an older machine using XP Home SP2.
Just got a new Dell XPS400 with XP Media Center.
Connected the HP to the Dell and inserted the Install Disk.
When it got to the point of using the Windows Wizzard there is no selection
in the list for an HP 1320.
Don't know what to do next.
When I use the install disk on the older computer it does not even attempt
to use the windows wizzard and just installs the software.
I downloaded an EZInstall file from the HP site. It has the same problem.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

Same scenario here. I had an HP all-in-one that worked
perfectly on my old machine. I bought a new top of the line HP
computer with XP Media Center and the printer will not work.
Been working on this for over a week with HP tech support by
email. They finally referred me to the 800 number, but they
want to charge me for their time. Imagine, you download the
latest HP software to install on the lastest HP computer, it
doesn't install and they want to charge you. I'm ticked.

Hope you have better luck!

Yes there is some issue installing some HP software on Media Center. I was
told this is an issue with a product check by the HP installation package.
I forwarded this information to an HP print driver developer who is based at
MS and he forwarded the information to HP. I have asked for some
clarification on any response from HP.

Did the installer post any error message or is there any application or
system event error around this software installation?

I'm not trying to crowd out the original poster here, just trying
to get my similar issue resolved.

In my installation of a G85xi the HP installer complains that the
application could not be started and something about the Java VM. I
don't remember the exact verbage. This is on MCE also. Thanks.

Dave.
In my case with the HP 1320 the only message I get is "installiation failed"
and it is a windows message not an HP message. The Hp software just hangs and
I have to close with Windows Task Manger. HP email support has been very
little help.
What concenrs me is that the HP1320 (or any of the HP printers in that
series) are not even listed as a printer to select. Hp email ingores my
questions about this.
And of course Dell is no help at all.

Hi:
I purchased 'HP Photosmart 3300 series All-in-One,' and spent almost 7 - 8
hours for software
installation, one for whole afternoon and other for whole morning, the next
day.

During software installation, there were a number of error messages
flashing across the screen.
It was almost 'nightmarish' experience which I never experienced before, not
once. When I went
to the HP Support Site, there is a fine-print, ... 'file is missing,
particularly for 'scan part' that
seems causing a problem. For that, I also read HP, MS, or both still
working on this issue,
a 'missing file' that causeing this installation problem.

In my case, after a number of tries, error messages went to the HP Support
and eventually
I completed installation. However, Networking which I want to make 'sharing
printer' with two
computers, I still keep struggling. Because, in order to 'share' printers
between two computers, I need to
'configuration' on setting which I truly hesitate to do due to my ISP,
'High-Speed-Internet.' I can NOT afford
to lose this connection.

Hopefully, HP soon taking action to fix this problem, soon.

You'll now need to completely clean your system and start over again.
Disconnect the printer and look for the following file on the HP CD -
Uninstall.bat or Uninstall_L1.bat under Utilities>CCC. There should
be 4 levels of uninstall and run all of them.
After cleaning all the levels, insert the software and run Setup. During
the installation process you will be prompted WHEN to connect it to the PC
and
when to turn it on. I had an identical problem with my HP All-in-one and
it works great now. Good luck :~)

Alray, the printer will not be listed in the Manufacture Model page since
the driver is not included in the XP operating system. Use the have disk
option to point to the inf file that contains the manufacture model
information.

I don't think HP wrote the driver for this printer.
