Trouble importing .avi file created in MovieMaker to another program

I am trying to import an avi file created in Movie Maker into another program (Pinnacle Expression). Pinnacle gives me a message: "The file "nameoffile.avi" is an unrecognizable file format and cannot be imported." AVI files are a supported file format in Pinnacle

Is there a fix for this

Windows Movie Maker uses what are called AVI type 1
files. Pinacle and most other packages require AVI type2
files. You can convert type 1 to type 2 using the free
converter from Canopus Go to their web site and down load
the Canopus DV File converter.

file_converter.asp
Visit my web site

instructions. See the topic Movie Maker & other programs.
Have fun.
