Trouble finding contacts

Hello all. I am having trouble finding new contacts. When I add a new contact I enter first, last, and company name. However when I use find to show my contacts for a company I only get a list of contacts added a while back. If I can actually remember the person's name then I can find them, but I would like to enter the company name in the find box, and a list of all contacts for that company pop up. Can anyone give me some advice on what I am doing wrong?
