Trouble emailing photos from Windows, "MY Pictures"

When I email photos from "my pictures", I used to be able to send several at
a time. I use the photo reduction feature to make my photos smaller so that
my dial up friends can open them easier. Lately, all I can send is one or two
at a time. This seems to work good. But when I try emailing the whole file
or even when I just select 6 or 7 pictures from a file, after it goes thru
the reduction routine, it just sits there on the picture file and does
nothing. Im using yahoo email and operate on DSL Sbc yahoo. Ive deleted all
temporary internet files and cookies and tried turning off my virus detection
software, but no luck. Its like the program doesnt know what to do with a
larger picture file transfer. I'm sure I use to be able to do this before
converting to SBC Yahoo and installing XP Service pack. I have the SBC latest
fix for XP Service pck installed.

Anyone know what my problem might be?

the Yahoo site, you are limited to three
attachments per message:

to three attachments totaling 10MB in any
email message.

I have tried to send 8 pictures at one time which were 550kb before
reduction. After reduction, the pictures were 126k each. Even 8 pictures of
this size wouldnt approach the 10mb limit, would it. It doesnt seem that the
10mb limit could be my problem. I also have a friend who uses this same
procedure in My Pictures, only he emails out of outlook express. He has no
problem of sending several pictures at once.

Apparently you not only have a file size
limit but also are limited to the number
of attachments.

The Yahoo site clearly states...

"you can send up to *three* attachments"

If you wish to send lots of images why not
create a zip file? Then it would only be one
attachment.

Thanks John.....I think we're getting there !! Can you tell me how you're
getting to the yahoo site concerning the 3 attachments? Also, how do I
create a zip file and does can it reduce the size of my pictures.

JPEG images are already highly compressed
so the zip file will probably not reduce file size.
You may want to download the following
free PowerToy to resize your images before
zipping them.

OK, go to the following link and download and
install: ImageResizer.exe

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures from the menu. You
can select one image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals.
(Tip: *Never* overwrite your originals)

BTW...when resizing if you go to...Advanced
Button / Custom...and enter 640 in each field...
that will be a good size for e-mail purposes.

How to create a zip file.

Open your image folder...

Select the images you wish to send...
(You can multiple select by holding your Ctrl
key while making your selection)

Right click your selected group of files and
from the menu...choose...

Send to / Compressed (zipped) Folder.

In a couple of seconds, the zipped file
will appear. Attach it to your e-mail message
and you are in business.

I am having a problem decreasing the size of my pictures. I go into the
'email pictures' option and then select the 'make my pictures smaller'
option. It goes through the motions and appears to be working but the pics
are the same size. Anyone have any suggestions?
