Trouble downloading pictures to site

Guest

I have been trying to download some pictures to my website. When I click on
the icon for "insert picture from file" and the "select file on your
computer" icon all I get is a tiny box with a red x inside. I have tried
downloading other pictures and most, but not all, work. The pictures I am
trying to download are on my hard drive. I am trying to put them in a web
with thumbnails. In the past - and even now - I can do this easily. These
pictures are in jpeg form and I can't find anything wrong with them. Any
suggestions? I'd really appreciate you hekp as I want to get them out by
Christmas. THanks.

The pictures have to be inside your web folder on the hard drive
before you can use them.

I have copied them to "My My Webs>My Scrapbooking web" where all the other pictures are. I have downloaded and made thumbnails successfully in other pages on this web site. Still I get the box with the red x. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

You need to always import images into your current open FP web / site first, NOT copy or paste into,
etc.

I think were are getting close. I have tried to insert them by going to file>import>add file. I highlighted all the pages I want in the web site and clicked OK. Now I get a succession of error messages that say, "Server error: #14 NOGA Thanksgiving (this is the name of one of the files I am trying to import) does not refer to a page or folder in this web. It may be a page or folder in a subweb or it could be a badly formed URL" When I tried eliminating that file, it just chooses another file and says the same thing. Should I import the file in it's entireity or am I right in selecting all the individual files and import ththem or will that make a difference? I appreciate your help and I hope that we can solve this puzzle. Thanks.

Can you provide examples of how you are name your files (images and pages) that will be part of your
web?

Pages?
You were talking about Images not appearing on pages in your web...the page
should already be in your web.

The files I am trying to upload into my website are scans of scrapbook pages.
The name of one, for example is:#2Noga - signs of life L.jpg. Could the
trouble be that I have named it with a #? I will try renaming the file. Any
other suggestions?
Hannah

T

Tom [Pepper] Willett

Yes, rename the file.
Get rid of the #, and the spaces. Use lower case. Use underbars.
For example, noga_signs_of_life_l.jpg

Yes, remove all spaces and any special characters, such as #, etc. from all file and folder names,
as well as keep everything in lowercase, unless your site is hosted on a Windows IIS web server.

Note: - and the _ are ok to use in file and folder names.
