Trouble createing referenced image in OL2007

hi

I have an image stored on a webserver. This image I want to use as my
signature.
Problem is that the signature is embedded in the email, instead I want the
image to be stored on the webserver.

I've done the registry setting as suggested in this link:
http://www.msoutlook.info/question/72

I've done a few tryes here without success adding reference images:
- In the dialog where I can select image, I typed in the http url - didn't
work
- I've displayed the image in IE and copy/paste the image the contents tot
he signautre editor in OL2007
- Created a dummy html window which only contain a img tag referencing this
image, displayed the content in a webbrowser and copy/paste the contents tot
he signautre editor in OL2007

these 3 attempts has failed...

any ideas how to get it right?

Did you restart Outlook after making the registry change?

You should not use copy/paste to get linked pictures into your signature. If
you hold CTRL when clicking on the Signatures... button in the Options
dialog, you'll open the Signatures folder. You can then open your
htm-version of your signature in an HTML editor (or even Notepad) to verify
that the img tag is indeed referring to a location on the web. If that is
the case and you've correctly set the registry key, your signature will not
embed the image into the message upon sending.

Note that the default behavior of Outlook is to send it as a link.

I've managed to get it working but wonder if there exists an easier way to
accomplish it.

What I did was:
1) create a html file with an img tag having src pointing this file on my
webserver
2) Open the source for my signature (hold ctrl + click on signaure in Option
window), Open the signature source and open the source file in an editor.
3) replace the signature source with the html I created in point 1 on this
list.

registry setting:
"Send Pictures With Document", REG_DWORD, 0x00000000(0)

The approach above isn't perfect, I've discovered an error with it. After
I've created that signature I modify the picture. But when I in OL2007
writes a new email I see the old version of the image. Despite being an old
version displayed the user who gets the email get the updated vesion. I've
been testing on my machine, being both sender and recipient (outlook
express) and there I could see the updated version. Maybe this could relate
to temporary internert files but hope some of you have any tips about this
also

any ideas are welcome
