Trouble Connecting Two PC's

I am trying to network an Xp Pro PC and a Server 2003 PC
directly through 10/100 Mbps fast ethernet adaptors.
Both systems say the network cable is unplugged. The
cable says Cat 5 UTP 24 AWG 4 PAIRS. Do I need a
different cable? If so, what should it say on it?

If you are connecting directly you have to use a Cat 5
with crossover (like a null modem)
