Trojan Horse Virus Problem

My AVG software has detected a Trojan Horse Dialer 6.9
The report says it cannot be removed by healing, entire
infected object must be removed.
When I click on move to virus vault, I'm told that it can
not be removed.
Can anyone offer any advice?

Yeah, but you won't like it. Get Symantec or McAfee. Both deal with this
nasty without a problem. My personal preference is for Symantec because I
have more experience using Symantec.

Hi John,

It can't be moved because it is probably still active. Hit ctrl+shift+escape
and try killing the process(es) associated with it. Then move it. If you are
unable to do it this way (it keeps restarting itself), then restart in Safe
mode by hitting F8 at the boot. Then try deleting it.

See the following post quoted from here..

Kendall 08/23/03 I had a trojan horse dialer yesterday that AVG picked up
but would not send to the vault. I downloaded Avast, a free anti-virus
program with a forum for support. Avast did not remove it, but someone in
the forum told me how: go to
http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm
This completely removed it from my computer. I also downloaded SpyBot S&D,
AdAware, both free programs. I'm so new at this...I didn't realize you had
to have a complete aresenal because of all the freaks out there. Hope this
works for you, too.

Dialers are categorized as spyware (even though they are more like
back-door trojans) and only enhanced versions of some a/v products can
deal with them, although many non-enhanced versions can detect them.

Use Spybot Search and Destroy and AdAware to get rid of the pest and
turn on your Internet Connection Firewall, or better yet get a free
software firewall like Zone Alarm or Kerio Personal Firewall.
