Trogan Horse Virus

Please can anyone help me? AVG has just found a Trogan Horse Dropper Agent DKW in WinFlyer 32.dll. At the moment it is in the virus vault, is it safe to delete this file?

Yes, it is identified as Trojan.Downloader-WinFlyer.Process ... remove / delete it.

Pop ups

Hi there again

You've helped me so much with my problems so here I am again!

I'm having problems with pop up blockers even though I have my google toolbar set up properly.

Can you tell me why this is happening and shall I let you see my hijack log?

Pop-ups are not 'real' nasties that will show up in a HJT log, you are more than welcome to post the log anyway.


Google & IE7 have built-in pop-up blockers, however, they will not prevent all from annoying you.

I do not use Google's pop-up blocker, it is unticked (toolbar options/more) but I do use IE7 ... IE7 is set at the default of medium.

Now, to add some more apple to the pie I also use KIS (Kaspersky Internet Security) which also has a very effective pop-up & ad blocker. Actually, it is the one that works, I have never seen IE7 tell me it just blocked something ... I think I need to experiment and turn it off IE7's pop-up blocker also.

Havin said all that, can you give me some more details as to the 'problem' you are having ... links to sites giving pop-ups would help.

The main site where I'm getting these pop ups is shockwave.com. I temporarily allow pop up so I can play a game, Chuzzle mostly and then all hell lets loose with the pop ups! I also use IE pop up blocker as well and have never had any trouble until today. Maybe I should stop playing these stupid games

I do not have Adobe Shockwave installed, and I won't be installing it knowingly. I do not have any Adobe 'products' installed, not even the Adobe PDF reader.

I personally do not like these programs.

Its me again!! I turned pc on this morning and pop ups all over the place again. Then I got a message saying IE had to close because of a des082dll file. I tried searching for information about this file but can't find anything. I'll put the hijack log on here to see if you can find anything wrong.

If you want to get rid of Macromedia Shockwave, I suggest uninstalling it using the Add/Remove programs and NOT just deleting it here via HJT

What anti-malware program are you using ? you need to use two or three at least.

I strongly suggest getting another Malware scanner, Ad-Aware is not regarded in the top ten anymore ... AVG does not fair well on my list either.

If you run Windows, then you probably run Windows Defender ... it is OK but don't seem to catch minor nasties and does not scan for tracking cookies.

Spy Sweeper and Spyware Doctor are one & two in the top ten, they ain't free ... we "techies" suggest using one of them because they have "real-time" scanning. To augment one of the above, use Spybot Search & Destroy ... SBS&D was one of the first tools to combat spyware. Many experts still recommend it as a supplemental spyware remover.

No one "solution" is 100% ... even using three scanners one after the other will, at best, only offer 75% clearance ... and I ain't talked about a virus yet.

I use ... KIS (Kaspersky Internet Security) which also detects for Trojans, Worms, Viruses & a load of other nasties ... I also use Windows Defender, Spy Sweeper, SBS&D AND SpywareBlaster.

There are others I can recommend, but in my honest opinion, the ones I use are the best of the bunch.

If I need to investigate some unscrupulous website, then I'll use Linux.

There are Free, and then there is Free of mind ...

Yes, annoying, innit ... You could go try out Spy Sweeper Beta ... it does work, I am "testing" it myself ... dunno if it will find the same 'problem' but you have nothing to loose, and everything to gain.


HJT can only "kill" stuff that is running that it can see ... it cannot always get to the nastie that is the cause. Is why I keep tellin people to install other software.

I suggest un-installin Spyware Doctor, if you ain't gonna buy it, ... but I do strongly suggest you buy either SD or SS and augment that with SBS&D and SpywareBlaster ... and a good Firewall + a better AV program than Norton.

Always give me the names of the programs you try ... it is a little annoying to read "I tried another program" and not know what you tried ... was it SpywareBot ? 'cos that IS a nastie rouge program.

Yes it was Spyware Bot, I just unistalled it as well as Spyware Doctor, have also done as you told me in Hijack, so am now awaiting to see if the pop ups will pop up again lol. You may be hearing from me again if they do.

No problem ... as you have just seen, not all anti-malware programs are what they seem ... for ever legitimate one, there are four rouge programs that do not help but instead make things worse.

There are very few 'real' anti-nastie programs I trust ... and I do repeat myself.

Is this the French word for red with some meaning I don't understand or is it simply a misspelling of the word rogue. I'd be interested to know. Thanks in anticipation.
