Hello All,

I am trying to set up a Network Camera, I have the following Network Camera
D-Link DCS-950., I am able to access the camera, within any of the computers
in my home which all are connected through a Westell Versa-Link DSL modem
provided by Verizon. The camera is also attached to the Westell Versa-Link
DSL modem. Now if i try to access the camera from outside my home which are
my intentions that is the reason why i got the camera, i am unable to do
that. ( http://192.168.1.44 ) which is the address to access. Anyone out
their can be of some assistance I would greatly apreciate it. Thanks Oscar

Oscar,

The ip address you are using is probably coming from the modem. I don't
know the particulars of westell versa but usually this devices can be
configure to accept a DMZ with one IP address.
If you can create one DMZ on the device, add the address of the camera.

use this web site http://www.myipaddress.co.uk/ to see your global ip
address.

From your external location type that address and it should reach your
camera (if you set the dmz)

Remember that the global ip address usually change everytime you connect to
the internet.

hope this helps

You'll need to forward three ports separately in a router, you really
should change the http port to something other than 80, perhaps 8080 then as
an example, the www address would be similar to http://71.99.2.277:8080

HTTP port for the web page,
AVI Control port, AVI Streaming port

What port is assigned to the camera? You may have to enter it with the URL.
ex: Http:/192.168.1.44:8080/ . You also may need a DDNS name. Similar to a
domain name. Does D-Link offer this service? I use all Panasonic BL-C30s and
have a DDNS name for each thru the service they provide for owners of their
cameras.
I am not familiar with model, so check the manual or their web sit for
information regarding "access from the web" or "remote access".

If You figure it out PLEASE let Me know how ,I have been going crazy trying
to view My network IP Camera for three week's now, I can get to My router
through the Internet but can't bring up the camera.
When I type in My Static IP Address from a different location it goes
straight to the Router. I can view the camera on the Home computer that is
connected to the router

I have been bounced around by Linksys tech support, and Sony Tech Support
example.

A call to Sony, they helped Me set the camera up and even helped Me set up
the port forwarding in the Linksys router, then they tried to connect to the
camera from their location and they got My router to, so they told Me to
contact My service provider to see if they blocked any ports.
So a call to bellsouth.net, and they do not block ports.

So I called Linksys tech support to make sure the router was set up right
and they went through the set up of the router they tried to connect to My
camera and they got My router to, they put me on hold and when he came back
he told Me that I needed VPN software set up on the computers

Window Xp Media Center SP2
Linksys WRT54GS Broadband router
Westel DSL Modem
Sony SNC-M3 Camera

I would be thankful for any help I can get
Thanks
Ronnie
