Tried all I know of, still problems

Windows XP SP3

I have tried all I know of to do and have been advised to do on this forum
regarding my MM working very slowly.

I have lots of free space in my hard drives, I make sure there are no other
programs running, I have defragged, scanned for spyware & malware and encoded
my files to wmv.

Every time I click to do anything such as add an effect, play etc it takes
several minutes to do each thing and has become very frustrating to use. I
have tried other movie making software but haven't liked it. Can anyone think
of anything else I can do to speed up each action?

Thank you

Does this occur if you create and save a very small project?

Is your system drive at least 50% free?

Do you have at least 2GB of RAM?

Have you tried increasing the size of your Virtual Memory
Paging File?

Did you run Error Checking (chkdsk) before you defragged?

Do you run Disk Cleanup on a regular schedule?

Does it help if you go to...Tools / Options / Compatibility tab...
and uncheck all the filters?

Hello

It happens no matter what the size of the project.

I haven't been using the computer much , I scan & defrag every 3-4 weeks,
though I haven't done the error checking, I'm not familiar with it.

This is the info I found - memory usage - system cache

On drive C - space available - 31818MB

Custom size (MB) 384

Maximum size (MB) 1000.

I tried the unchecking of all the filters in tools.
