Tray Application Error Problem

For several weeks now, when I turn my computer on and Windows starts to load
it either hangs up before it finishes loading or sometimes I get an error
message that says "Tray Application Encountered a Problem and Needs to
Close". Sometimes there are only one or two application icons that do not
appear in the "TRAY" and sometimes there are more that are not there.
(example: sometimes the Volume icon is missing or Norton AV, or sometimes
two or three different ones). If I reboot several times, more of the icons
usually appear. I can usually use the computer when these icons are missing
(except when Windows locks up before it is fully loaded).

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing the problem and how to fix
it? This is a daily problem and seems to be getting worse. Thank you for
your help.

Windows XP Home SP2, P4 2.4, 1gig Ram, 128mb Radeon Video Card, 80 gig WD HHD.

Exact error message?
Otherwise, if by Radeon, you mean by ATI, uninstall/reinstall/update drivers.

Thanks for the reply St. Daniel. That was the error message: ""Tray
Application Encountered a Problem and Needs to Close". Then it names one of
the programs that didn't load in the tray. This will change depending on
which programs didn't load in the tray.

Yes, it's a ATI Radeon AIW 128mb graphics card and I've installed the latest
drivers. I guess I could try uninstalling and reinstalling them again. May
be worth a try.
