Travel time in appointments?

B

Bobby

How do I add travel time to my calendar appointments? Some meetings last 2
hours but I'm out of office for four hours - one hour to get there and
another to get back. I don't want to record the meeting as a four hour
meeting because:

1. it's not
2. I need to know when the meeting actually starts.

Is this possible in Outlook 2003?

Cheers.

Not that I know of. You'd have to add the travel time in separate blocks,
or include the travel time in the appointment time but indicate the actual
meeting time in the subject text.

Err... isn't that a pretty major omission?

Actually, I don't remember reading any other complaints about this
particular function or lack thereof :) (although I'm sure you're not
alone). Most people probably just do one of the two things I suggested, or
the travel time is just "understood".

Feel free to pass along your concerns and suggestions for future versions to
Microsoft at (e-mail address removed) (put Outlook in the subject line).
Microsoft does read the e-mails sent to these addresses, and the more users
requesting a certain feature, the more likely it will be implemented in the
future.

Maybe I'm the first person in the world to think about it. In future I want
all references to "travel time" to be my copyright. ;-) Is it a useful
feature or not? Is it missing from Outlook or not?

That's a clunky, work-around. What if my assistant wants to know if I'm
travelling to the meeting or actually in the meeting (they may want to call
me)? And Outlook must be pretty smart if it can "understand" varying travel
times and still find free times for meetings.

I've copied this reply to Microsoft. Thanks for that tip.
