I recently purchased a new computer with Windows XP installed, after transfering my word files which were in Microsoft Works I found them in a completely different look. They are unreadable because they look as though they are encrypted in some way but if I cursor down through three or so pages I find my document in plain text.
I tried reinstalling Works from my old installation CD in hopes thyat my documents would correct themselves but the installation program asks my to enter my 20 digit Product ID number and I don't have a clue where that might be as this is from the stoneage. I am quite computer illiterate so please be as simple and plain as possible
Thank You

Apparently, you do not have Microsoft Works installed.
Visit your favorite store that sells computer software and
purchase Microsoft Works Suite 2004. When you get home,
install it on your computer that is using the Windows XP
operating system.

Please visit the Works experts in the Works newsgroup:
