I am running w2kpro and just got a new CPU which runs XP
home, I need to get my files and website purchased
programs transfered to the new CPU. My old is PII and the
new is a AMD Athlon 3000+. (not sure if that matters).
I got an external CD-RW in order to copy the files and put
on the new computer.
Can someone help me.
Thank you

Katie,

For data (files and settings) you can use Windows XP's Files & Settings
Transfer Wizard
(http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/columns/bott/fstw.asp) This
link will take you to a MS Column that should walk you through the process.
As for transferring INSTALLED PROGRAMS from one PC to another, you may as
well give up the ghost right now and dig up all those old install CD's to
start loading onto the new PC.

Once the programs are installed on the new computer, the data files from the
old computer can be imported - Such as email messages/folders, Microsoft
Money data, and so forth.
