I have had to reformat my hard drive from 98 to XP and
was using Outlook. I will lose all my eamails and address
book unless someone can tell me how to move them over
from one hard drive to another????? Where are they stored
in 98???

Thanks

i was in the exact same situation a few weeks back, jc. i'm basing my
answers assuming you're referring to OL2000.

your e-mail messages are stored in a .pst file, probably called
outlook.pst but it could have another name depending on how you
configured OL. do a search for *.pst and you should find them. you
may have more *.pst files for other OL users or if you are archiving
your old e-mail. when you locate them be sure that OL is closed. you
can then copy them to a CD, disk, etc. if you've never archived your
mail be prepared to find a huge file. if this is the case you may
want to reduce the size of your message file by archiving off some old
mail.

option #2 for your mail and a fairly easy way to move your contact
list, calendar...just about any folder in OL) is to export them via
the OL2000 export function. FILE: IMPORT/EXPORT: EXPORT TO A FILE:
two of your options ought to be to export to a .pst file (good for
your messages) and comma separated values (windows) (good for any OL
folder). the created file can be saved to CD, diskette, etc but
again, depending on your situation the file may be huge.

option #3 is to use a commercial program that backs up OL files. i
NOW use a product called Email Saver XE
(http://www.winguides.com/emailsaver/). i use this on a daily basis
to back up my OL2000 files.

good luck.
