i am trying to transfer old e-mails, and addresses from a slave drive that
had windows 2000nt os into a new one that operates with windows xp.

OK. Did you have a question? Is there some problem you are having? What type
of information store are you using?
Unless you are running against Exchange Server, the file you need is your
Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts
etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm
http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010771141033.aspx

info was very helpfull, resolved my problem, pst files after they were found
had to be saved on desktop, after that it was a breeze to import them from
outlook.
thanks

Glad it worked, but you were lucky. If you'll notice, importing is not
mentioned as a reliable way to transfer Outlook data. You should simply open
or reuse PST files, not import them.
