Trade in XP Pro OEM lisences for Embedded?

Hi, this might be an odd question. We have a deployed touchscreen app
used across a variety of sites. It is currently running on XP Pro OEMs
that came with the hardware.

We're looking at XP Embedded to speed boot times and operation of the
device, and allow it to have a more robust platform to operate on.
Since we have already these XP Pro licenses for each machine, is there
a way to convert or trade those in against embedded licenses? Or do we
end up having to repurchase for every machine? (well over 50 at this
stage)

also, is there a required setup cost/license to actually be able to
build the embedded images? or only to develop native applications?

We're currently playing with the trial version to assess how much of
an improvement we will get.

Thanks in advance guys!

You should check with your distributor, but I think you have to sign a
different license and get a license number for XPe.

Do you know about the upfront costs for embedded?

We don't have a direct MS licensor at the moment, our current XP Pro
licenses come as OEM licenses with the hardware, so we haven't have to
deal direct with a reseller. Our hardware supplier only deals in OEMs
for their hardware.

The cost of the full tools release is the only upfront cost (~$1000.00 USD).
You can purchase these from a distributor.

Thanks for the tips. We will complete our trials with the trial
version, and see how much of a benifit we will gain.

Thanks again
